How does this medicine work

Cisplatin is a clear liquid that is injected into a vein. It works as follows:-

Cisplatin, a compound similar to bifunctional alkylating agents, attaches itself to DNA, disrupting its normal function. Once inside cells, it replaces its chloride ligands with water molecules, forming positively charged platinum complexes. These complexes then bind covalently to sites on DNA, creating cross-links within and between DNA strands, which interferes with DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis. This process occurs regardless of the cell cycle phase. Additionally, cisplatin exhibits immunosuppressive, radiosensitizing, and antimicrobial properties.
