How does this medicine work
Carboplatin is a clear liquid that is injected into a vein. It works as follows:-
Carboplatin, similar to cisplatin, is a chemotherapy drug containing a platinum atom surrounded by ammonia and other ligands. However, carboplatin differs in that its ligands form a ring structure rather than chloride atoms, making it more stable and less toxic to the kidneys, nerves, ears, and causing less nausea. While the exact mechanism isn't fully understood, carboplatin is believed to work by creating platinum complexes inside cells, which then disrupt DNA synthesis by forming cross-links between DNA strands. It's also known to enhance the effectiveness of radiation therapy. Carboplatin works regardless of the cell cycle phase.
