How does this medicine work

Abiraterone is a tablet that you take by mouth and it works as follows:- 

Abiraterone acetate, once in your body, turns into abiraterone, which works specifically on the CYP17 enzyme found in testicles, adrenal glands, and prostate tumors. By blocking this enzyme, abiraterone slows down the production of certain hormones that fuel tumor growth. When used alongside other treatments that lower hormone levels, abiraterone helps reduce testosterone to levels that can effectively treat cancer.

Safety Advice : Pregnancy, Liver or Kidney Damaged

Abiraterone may damage sperm and may harm the baby if used during pregnancy. It is best to use birth control while being treated with abiraterone. Male patients must use a condom and another effective birth control method when having sexual activity with a woman who is pregnant or can become pregnant while taking abiraterone and for one week after the last dose of abiraterone. Tell your doctor right away if your partner becomes pregnant. Do not breastfeed during treatment.
