Abemaciclib is a tablet that you take by mouth and it works as follows:-
Abemaciclib works by blocking specific proteins called cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) 4 and 6, which play a crucial role in cell division. Abemaciclib may affect fertility in men. If you plan to have children, discuss this with your doctor before being treated with abemaciclib.
Abemaciclib may damage sperm and may harm the baby if used during pregnancy. It is best to use birth control while being treated with abemaciclib and for at least 21 days after the last dose. Tell your doctor right away if you or your partner becomes pregnant. Do not breastfeed during treatment and for at least 21 days after the last dose.
