• Least discomfort to patient - eg in case of lung cancer spread to liver and bone, we will perform biopsy from liver rather than lung itself or bone because biopsy of lung can cause side effect of bleeding to breathlessness while the quality of tissue from bone biopsy is often not good

• Fitness of the patient - if patient is unable to hold breath or cannot lie prone than we do most easily accessible area of cancer spread
